SPA/RAC together with other MedProgramme partners participated in the 25th Annual Consultative Meeting on Large Marine Ecosystems and Coastal Partners (LME25), held at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris.

Over three days, the meeting brought together more than 60 representatives from GEF-funded marine projects, including FishEBM Med and other MedProgramme partner projects, Regional Seas Conventions, fisheries organizations, international partners and experts to exchange on transboundary marine governance.

Key discussions focused on:

The future of the Large Marine Ecosystems (LME) Strategy and priorities under GEF-9;

Progress and lessons learned from GEF-funded marine and coastal initiatives worldwide;

Sustainable financing for marine ecosystem management;

Strengthening partnerships among Regional Seas Programmes, fisheries organizations and global initiatives;

Advancing Data and Information Management (DIM) across the marine portfolio, including the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence.

Through the FishEBM MED Project and, more broadly, the MedProgramme, SPA/RAC continues to contribute to collaborative approaches that connect regional and global efforts towards healthier, more resilient marine ecosystems.
