This factsheet presents Child Project 1.1 “Reducing Pollution from Harmful Chemicals and Wastes in Mediterranean Hotspots and Measuring Progress to Impacts”  of the MedProgramme, which addresses pollution from hazardous chemicals, particularly POPs and mercury, originating from land-based sources. Through targeted interventions such as safe disposal of toxic waste, regulatory reform, and improved regional monitoring, the project enables participating countries to move from assessment to implementation, delivering measurable environmental and health benefits across the Mediterranean.
