Produced by MedWaves under MedProgramme Child Project 1.1 (GEF ID 9684), in collaboration with UNEP/MAP and UNEP, this report assesses persistent organic pollutants in samples collected in Lebanon in 2023 and analysed by IDAEA-CSIC in Barcelona in 2024. It aims to evaluate the detected pollutant concentrations, identify potential environmental impacts and recommend actions for Lebanon to mitigate pollution from harmful chemicals and protect human health and coastal habitats. The assessment is based on laboratory analyses of the available samples; however, because the underlying data are limited, its conclusions and recommendations should be reviewed and updated when additional information becomes available.
